Adobe Announces Release Candidates for Lightroom 4.2, Camera Raw 7.2

Adobe says there are two new release candidates available at Adobe Labs. One is Lightroom 4.2, the other is Camera Raw 7.2. According to Adobe a release candidate is an “update [that] is well tested but would benefit from additional community testing before it is distributed automatically to all of our customers.” The final release could have other corrections and/or camera support.

Adobe has a long list of corrections in the Lightroom 4.2 release candidate. According to Adobe the following have been fixed:
1. Folder stacks with virtual copies get unstacked when moving to another folder
2. Stacked photos get hidden in both the Grid view and Filmstrip.  This occurs when photos get unstacked as a result of enabling auto-stacking.
3. Errors encountered when publishing videos to Facebook through the Facebook Publish Service
4. Users may have occurred problems when trying to enter the Web Module from Library.
5. Unable to edit JPEG photos in Photoshop Elements
6. Unable to upload files to Flickr if there is a carriage return in either the Title or Caption fields (Win only).
7. Background graphics that are applied to a Book globally may not appear as expected in a Saved PDF.
8. Certain book covers had spine text positioned in a Horizontal manner, not Vertical.
9. Double byte characters are not being exported to PDF in Books
10. Photos were exported with original GPS coordinates recorded by the camera, not with the GPS coordinates updated in Lightroom.
11. Keyboard shortcuts in the Develop module sometimes do not work when editing an image in Process Version PV2010.
12. Parents and synonyms of “do not export” keywords also do not export.
13. Audio does not play in video files after creating a slideshow containing music (win7 only)
14. Tether support not working for Nikon D4, D800 , and D800E (win only).

New cameras are supported in Lightroom 4.2.  They are the Canon EOS 650D / Rebel T4i, Canon EOS M, Fuji FinePix F800EXR, Leaf Credo 40, Leaf Credo 60, Panasonic DMC-FZ200, Panasonic DMC-G5, Panasonic DMC-LX7, Pentax K-30 and the Sony DSC-RX100.

Also available is the release candidate for Camera Raw 7.2. The release includes new cameras and new lens profiles.  The cameras include the Canon EOS 650D/Rebel T4i,Canon EOS M, Fuji FinePix F800EXR, Leaf Credo 40, Leaf Credo 60, Nikon 1 J2, Panasonic DMC-FZ200, Panasonic DMC-G5, Panasonic DMC-LX7, Pentax K-30, and the Sony DSC-RX100. There is a list of 29 lense profiles now supported, ranging from the Canon EF 24mm f2.8 IS USM to the Sony Sigma 105mm F2.8 EX DG OS HSM Macro.

Adobe says the following have been fixed in the 7.2 candidate:
1. Cannot change “Erase” size, feather and flow settings while utilizing the Option key.
2. Cannot write metadata to images previously opened in some 3rd party software.
3. Luminance Noise slider is unresponsive when Clarity is greater than 0.
4. In certain cases, the new Defringe controls can cause vertical streaks to appear.
5. Some images from Canon 5D Mark II exhibited pattern noise in the form of maze/green split
6. Adjusting the Blue channel does not affect monochrome images.
7. Certain TIFF files can cause Bridge to become unstable.
8. Defringe settings are not retained when editing the file in Photoshop as a Smart Object and then
returning to ACR.

Adobe also warns the 7.2 candidate currently has two known issues:
1. A high number of artifacts exist in ACR text fields in the Panel.  This occurs only in OS X 10.8 (Mountain Lion).
2. The File-Quit menu item is greyed out in DNG Converter.  Please use keyboard shortcut Command+Q to exit out of DNG Converter.  This occurs only on the Mac platform.
