Rob Liefeld and Fabian Nicieza’s Deadpool was always a favorite character of mine, going back to the early 90s New Mutants comic, where he debuted, and then the original X-Force comics. The on-and-off nature of the solo film finally changed in 2014 when footage was leaked to great fanfare. It received a greenlight with Ryan Reynolds starring and Tim Miller directing, and the film debuted in February 2016 to massive critical and box office success. Naturally, there would be a sequel.

To recap the most recent Deadpool 2 news: John Wick’s David Leitch has taken over directing duties from Miller; Josh Brolin (Thanos) was cast as Cable; Domino will be played by Zazie Beetz; there’s a trailer; Shioli Katsuna was cast in a key role; and the writers discuss the sequel.

We finally have some official images of both Cable and Domino, and Deadpool himself Ryan Reynolds tweeted out two images of Cable:

Brolin worked out enough to make himself MASSIVE, and he looks pretty cool as Cable, in a lo-fi, DIY sense. The teddy bear on his side is a bit of a question mark, and Screen Rant speculates it could belong to a mutant named hope in recent comics. Read about that here.

In the meantime, there’s been an official image revealed of Beetz as Domino in Deadpool 2, also revealed by the Merc with the Mouth:

That’s a great photo, which is a fantastic take on one of the the first Deadpool images (which was a spoof of the famous Burt Reynolds-on-a-bear-run image), and I really dig the look Beetz sports as the mercenary, Domino!

There hasn’t been an official Deadpool 2 plot outline revealed, but with the official images of Cable and Domino now out in the world, I suspect we’ll hear more soon. I’m not sure about a new trailer, just yet.

Deadpool 2 opens June 1, 2018, though that date has been floated from early 2018 to spring to now early summer. New Mutants opens April 13, 2018 and X-Men: Dark Phoenix opens November 2, 2018, capping off a huge year for the X-Men family of films.
