Dirty Laundry: Tom Jane’s Unofficial Punisher Short Film [VIDEO]

By Heath McKnight (doddleNEWS)

Tom Jane (The Mist) and filmmaker Phil Joanou (the criminally unerseen Entropy) brought a short film called Dirty Laundry to the 2012 Comic-Con, but the big surprise was that it’s an unofficial Punisher short film. Jane starred as the title character in Jonathan Hensleigh’s 2004 Lionsgate adaptation of the Marvel Comics character. While not a perfect movie, it was fun and I thought Jane did a great job. They re-booted the film in late 2008 with War Zone, which was a big pile of meh, and Frank Castle was re-cast with Ray Stevenson (Thor).

So now that Marvel Studios (Avengers) has the rights to The Punisher back, could we finally we a faithful adaptation, maybe with Tom Jane back in the title role? Enjoy this fun, extremely violent and NSFW short film Jane and Joanou made, with everyone donating their time and services. Jane calls it a “love letter” to the character, nothing else. I’m a big fan of Frank Castle, and I enjoyed Tom Jane’s version of him (when I co-produced a film in Tampa, Florida, it was fun seeing all the locations the film shot at), especially this explosive short film.

Incidently, a few years back as DC Entertainment was working on getting Jonah Hex made, Tom Jane hired a makeup artist and photographer to showcase him as Jonah. The role eventually went to Josh Brolin, so let’s just say he dodged a bomb with that one!
