Marvel has a huge roster of characters to created adapted works from for the big screen. One of those properties is Moon Knight, whose name pops up every once in a while as a project that is being developed.

Apparently James Gunn, who directed Guardians of the Galaxy and its sequel, has a great idea for a possible Moon Knight film. When asked on Twitter about the possibility of the character teaming up with the Guardians, he pretty much dismissed the idea, but also tweeted the following:

Unfortunately for us, it doesn’t look like we’ll be getting that film anytime soon from Gunn. He did however pitch the idea to Marvel anyway:

If Gunn ever finds time in his busy schedule to shoot the film, then Vincent D’Onofrio is first in line to sign up. When the Kingpin actor found out about Gunn having the idea, he tweeted the following:

The odds of Gunn directing a Moon Knight film are pretty low. He is busy working on Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 and there is the possibility of him coming back for a third film. He has also expressed desire to direct other non-Marvel films, but that does leave the door open for him to produce and possibly write a Moon Knight film with someone else directing.

We have also been hearing rumors about a new corner of the Marvel Cinematic Universe for a while that would deal with the supernatural on television. The characters Ghost Rider (who showed up on Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.), Blade, and Moon Knight have been bandied about, so maybe Gunn’s idea could be reworked into a Netflix series. Back in October of 2016, Gunn had said he would love to direct a Marvel/Netflix project, but with a caveat during a Facebook Q&A:

“If it was in the right circumstances, maybe, but it would never be one that was preexisting. It would have to be the pilot of a new show.”

If Marvel is planning a supernatural corner of the MCU, and Gunn is serious about making Moon Knight, then this would be the perfect project for him to jump into the Netflix series arena. D’Onofrio is already at home there so even that is a win.
