Kick-Ass 2 Plot Synopsis And Pics Revealed

The much anticipated sequel to Kick-Ass is currently filming in London, following some location shooting in Toronto, and director Jeff Wadlow has very generously posted images from the production online.

Easily, the most interesting was a picture of the costume worn by the character Big Daddy who was played by Nic Cage in the original. Wadlow, who also wrote the script for the film, inserted the caption ‘Nobody puts Daddy in the corner’. This of course has sent tongues wagging as the character was killed off in the first film. For now though, I think the best we can hope for is the character reappearing in a flash back sequence. Although, it is admittedly a very clever tactic from the director.

Luckily, we are not completely in the dark about the story, as studio Universal have kindly released a synopsis of the film, which was posted by

“Kick-Ass, Hit Girl and Red Mist return for the follow-up to 2010’s irreverent global hit: Kick-Ass 2. After Kick-Ass’ insane bravery inspires a new wave of self-made masked crusaders, led by the badass Colonel Stars and Stripes, our hero joins them on patrol. When these amateur superheroes are hunted down by Red Mist – reborn as The Mother F%&*^r – only the blade-wielding Hit Girl can prevent their annihilation.”

The original film, directed by Matthew Vaughan and based on a cult comic book, was only moderately successful upon its release in 2010. However, the film has built up a sizeable following, which was helped by a warm critical reception, despite the inclusion of some controversial subject matter.

The other big news from the sequel is casting of Oscar nominated funny man Jim Carrey who is playing Colonel Stars. Carrey, who is currently on set in Canada, is also joined by Aaron Johnson who is reprising his role as unlikely hero Kick Ass and Chloe Moretz who stole the first film as the foul mouthed Hit Girl

Other cast members include Christopher Mintz-Plasse, John Leguizamo, Donald Faison, Robert Emms, Yancy Butler, Olga Kurkulina and Morris Chestnut.

Kick-Ass 2 will be released in the US on June 28th 2013 and will hit UK’s screens a little later on July 19th.
