Ezra Miller as The Flash in Justice League

The DCEU film version of The Flash seems to be a tough nut to crack. It has already gone through a few directors, and it will almost certainly miss the original release date for the film of 2018. In return, some big names have recently been attached as possible directors.

Robert Zemeckis was the first name brought up from Screen Junkies late last month, but The Wrap’s Umberto Gonzalez quickly dismissed the rumor as being not being true, and that he only had a meeting with the studio. The Wrap seems to have changed their tune, because they’re now reporting that Zemeckis is the frontrunner.

Zemeckis already has his plate full, and is currently working on a new film for Universal Pictures with a November 21, 2018 release date so there may be some issue with securing him. Even if he is the frontrunner, the schedules may not sync up which gives hope to another possibility.

Variety is reporting that Matthew Vaughn (Kingsman) is also being eyed by Warners to helm The Flash. This isn’t the first time his name has been attached to a DCEU film, having previously been rumored to be a possible director for Man of Steel 2. He also has his share of comic book movie experience, having helmed Kick-Ass (2010) and X-Men: First Class (2011).

Speaking of directors with superhero experience, according to The Hollywood Reporter, the final name that has been thrown around is Spider-Man trilogy director Sam Raimi. However, Entertainment Weekly is reporting that Raimi has not only passed on the project — but so has his Spider-Man successor Marc Webb. The outlet also reports that Billy Crudup, who was previously cast as Barry Allen’s father, has left the project, as well.

Justice League Reshoots

Justice-LeagueRecently, there’s been a widely spread rumor from a source saying that Justice League is going through such extensive reshoots, that the film will effectively been remade — twice. Here’s what Splash Report said their source told them:

“…in the 17 months between the start of principal photography and the final cut arriving in theaters in November that the film will have essentially been “remade…twice.

“There are more reshoots COMING SOON. There have been a bunch but they’re going to do MORE.”

However, The Wrap, is reporting that multiple insiders are calling shenanigans on the reshoot story. One source said:

“There has been no additional photography to date on Justice League, we have planned and will shoot additional pickups early summer. Additional photography has always been planned like most pictures in general, but certainly for a tentpole of Justice League’s size and scope.”

At this point, I can’t help but feel bad for the DC Extended Universe. It seems that they can’t get a break, even when the information is false. Even if it were true, reshoots don’t necessarily mean that the film would turn out bad. Rogue One went through extensive reshoots, and that film came out a winner.

Justice League opens November , 2017, while IMBd lists The Flash opening in 2020, which makes sense, as a new writer is starting from scratch.
