Recently we got our first look at Blade Runner 2049, the sequel to Ridley Scott’s original film. But while that film is being helmed by Denis Villeneuve, Scott has been busy working on the next Alien prequel, Alien: Covenant.

Considering Blade Runner 2049 will premiere next fall and Alien: Covenant is set for next summer after a surprise announcement, it’s surprising that the former debuted a trailer first.

According to a report by Trailer Track that is about to change, as a trailer for Alien: Covenant has been rated by the German FSK. The trailer should run for roughly two minutes, and they say it may be released this weekend. Adding to that, Screen Rant has confirmed that 20th Century Fox’s embargo on footage screened earlier this month for press, which includes the Covenant trailer, will lift this weekend. So odds are very good we’ll be getting some Xenomorphs Neomorphs for Christmas.

Meanwhile, a few new images have popped up from Alien: Covenant. You can see those in the gallery below:

Some very familiar elements in there, including the stasis pods and a hallway on an engineer’s ship. There’s also a shot of what looks like Colonial Marines, which would be a throwback to the James Cameron-directed sequel Aliens. The fourth image comes from Entertainment Weekly which reveals Katherine Waterston looking very much like Sigourney Weaver’s Ellen Ripley.

EW also had a chance to speak with Ridley Scott. One of the big issues from Prometheus is that it really didn’t reveal too much about the Alien universe, but Scott says that will change when Alien: Covenant hits the screen. Here’s what he said:

“Covenant is really going to show you who did it and why.”

Finally, it has been reported before, but James Franco has finally confirmed his involvement with Alien: Covenant during an interview for Why Him? Check that out:

Franco’s part is said to be small but crucial, so I suspect he’ll be one of the first victims in the movie (or an exec from Weynand).

Alien: Covenant will premiere in theaters on May 19th, 2017. Here’s the official synopsis for the film:

Headed toward a remote planet on the far side of the galaxy, the crew members of the colony ship Covenant discover what they believe to be an uncharted paradise, but it is actually a dark, menacing world in which the only inhabitant is the synthetic David (Michael Fassbender), a survivor of the doomed Prometheus expedition.
