Teaser Trailer: Christopher Nolan’s Interstellar

By Mark Hodge (doddleNEWS)

The first official trailer for Christopher Nolan’s science-fiction epic Interstellar has landed online.

And with the movie set for release next November, the studios (Paramount, along with Warner Bros. and Legendary, who both gave up respective properties to get in on the action) are starting to build the hype early.

The trailer only contains a few seconds of actual footage from the movie, showing star Matthew McConaughey driving away from a farm house with tears in his eyes.

In fact the rest of the preview is old footage of space travel including Neil Armstrong’s iconic moon walk. McConaughey character narrates the trailer, speaking about the fantastic discoveries that have been made in outer space, and crucially the great mysteries that have yet to be explored.

He said: “Perhaps we’ve just forgotten that we are still pioneers. And we’ve barely begun; that our greatest accomplishments cannot be behind us and that our destiny lies above us.”

Cinematographer Hoyte Van Hoytema (Let Right One), who has never has worked with Nolan before, has clearly left his mark on the film, which looks crisp and beautiful.

Not much is known about the story, other than it involves worm holes and alternate dimensions. Nolan’s brother Jonathan (The Dark Knight) developed the script from an idea conceived by theoretical physicist Kip Thorne.

The amount of filmmakers working today, who are given big budgets to develop original stories, can be counted on one hand. Nolan is arguably the best out of that elite group, so this film is hotly anticipated.

Interstellar will be released on November 7th, 2014.
